Celebrating 150 Years ~ 1867-2017

Earth Day Fair & Birthday Social

April 21st, 2017

Earth Day is an annual event, founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson after he witnessed the ravages of the massive oil spill in 1969 off the cost of Santa Barbara California. There were an estimated 20 million Americans that took part in the first earth day demonstration to raise public awareness about air and water pollution in 1970.

Now, Earth Day is celebrated annually around the world on April 22. Events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. This event in now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and more than 190 countries take part in various activities around the globe. Earth day has reached epic heights where a billion people every year take action which initiates change in human behavior and provokes policy changes that have a positive impact on our world and environment.

The Dayton VA Medical Center proudly observes this event annually as we fight together to save our planet from continued environmental neglect. Help us celebrate Earth Day this year, along with 150 hallowed years as one of the first VA Medical Centers in the country. God Bless America.

The Dayton VA Medical Center in conjunction with The GEMS HEAT Committee, are proud to host the annual alternative energy source Earth Day Fair, including vendors from the local area with earth friendly items and information. This years Earth Day fair will also include an ice cream social, with earth friendly ice cream sources. Please come and learn more about ways to protect the earth.
